Hamza, imprisoned following a professional medical error, gives up medicine when he is discharged from prison. Through his newly made friends of teenagers and a beautiful widow, the film examines the coming of manhood, the first love, the first naive adventure, the first job and responsibilities. The film is based on the filmmaker's personal experiences, people he's met in the most critical periods of his life.

Retrospective of works by Jean Chamoun and Mai Masri
Mai Masri and Jean Chamoun, a wife and husband team, are highly accomplished international filmmakers renowned for their award-winning films that tackle issues of the human spirit facing the people of Palestine and Lebanon. Their films have been broadcast on over 100 television stations internationally, including BBC, Channel 4, PBS, France 2, SBS, YLE, MBC and NHK. Their recent film, Frontiers of Dreams and Fears, was an overwhelming critical success, winning many international film festival awards including Best Documentary at the Biennale Arab World Institute in Paris, First Prize at the International Women's Film Festival in Torino, Italy, and the Best Film of 2001 Award by the Egyptian Film Critics Association.
This year's Arab Film Festival is honoring the works of Mai Masri and Jean Chamoun and their continuous dedication and commitment to bringing a realistic image of the average daily life in Palestine and Lebanon.
