IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
The organizers of the Arab Film Festival would like to express their deep sadness around Tuesday 11th of September's tragic events in New York, Washington DC and Pittsburgh. The Arab Film Festival strives to enhance the Bay Area community's understanding of Arab culture, history, and heritage through films that challenge the stereotypes dominating the American media's representation of Arabs. Perhaps at a moment like this, the need for such an event is even more necessary. However, due to the sudden and shocking nature of today's event, the organizers of the festival have decided to cancel the second half of this year's Cinemayaat, which was to open in Berkeley, Wednesday, September 12th, 2001 as well the closing night party on Friday, September 21st, 2001. The festival is concerned for the safety of its audience and volunteers.
